“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14
Every believer faces enemies at some point in life. Sometimes they are people who oppose us, speak against us, or try to harm us. Other times, our enemies may be fear, temptation, discouragement, or spiritual attacks. As children of God, we are not called to live in fear. Instead, we are called to trust in the Lord, who is our protector and defender.
The Bible teaches us that our greatest protection comes from staying close to God. When we spend time in prayer, read His Word, and walk in obedience, we place ourselves under His divine covering. Psalm 91 reminds us that those who dwell in the shelter of the Most High will find rest and safety under His wings.
One of the biggest mistakes we can make is trying to fight every battle with our own strength. Human wisdom and power are limited, but God’s power is unlimited. When King David faced Goliath, he did not rely on his armor or weapons. He trusted in the Lord, and God gave him victory. Likewise, when we face opposition, we should first seek God’s guidance rather than reacting in anger or fear.
Another important way to protect ourselves is through forgiveness. Holding bitterness in our hearts gives the enemy an opportunity to steal our peace. Jesus taught us to pray for those who persecute us and to bless those who curse us. Forgiveness does not mean approving of wrongdoing; it means releasing the burden to God and allowing Him to be the righteous judge.
We must also put on the full armor of God as described in Ephesians 6. Truth, righteousness, faith, salvation, God’s Word, and prayer are spiritual weapons that help us stand firm against every attack. The enemy may try to discourage us, but he cannot overcome a believer who remains rooted in Christ.
Remember, God sees every challenge you face. No enemy is stronger than Him. When you trust in the Lord, walk in His ways, and remain faithful, He becomes your shield and strong tower. Even when battles arise, you can have confidence knowing that God is fighting on your behalf.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for being our protector and defender. Help us to trust You in every battle we face. Guard our hearts from fear, anger, and bitterness. Fill us with Your peace and strengthen us through Your Word. Cover us with Your protection and guide us in Your wisdom. May we stand firm in faith, knowing that You are always with us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
