“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
— Galatians 6:9 (NIV)
Every meaningful journey begins with hope—but somewhere along the way, doubt often follows. Many of us start new paths with excitement, vision, and faith, yet when results don’t appear immediately, our emotions begin to shift. The mood dips, questions arise, and negative thoughts quietly whisper, “Will this really work?”
This inner struggle does not mean you are failing. In fact, it often means you are growing.
The Bible reminds us that weariness is a natural part of doing good work. Even when God has planted a vision in our hearts, the waiting season can feel heavy. We may know in our minds that what we are building has value, that it will help others and shape our future—but emotionally, we still feel uncertain. Faith and feelings don’t always walk together, but faith must always lead.
God’s work in our lives often begins invisibly. Just like seeds buried deep in the soil, purpose develops quietly before it becomes visible. During this stage, nothing seems to be happening, yet everything is happening. Roots are forming. Strength is building. Character is being shaped.
When negative feelings sneak in, they are not signs to stop—they are invitations to trust deeper. God never promised instant results, but He did promise lasting fruit. The effort you put in today is not wasted. Every step, every act of obedience, every moment of consistency is building something greater than what you can currently see.
Sometimes, God allows uncertainty so that we learn to walk by faith and not by sight. When we rely only on outcomes, we become discouraged easily. But when we rely on God’s guidance, we learn perseverance. He is far more interested in who we are becoming than how fast we are succeeding.
So when your heart feels hopeful one moment and heavy the next, remember this truth: God is still at work. Your calling is not cancelled by temporary doubt. Stay faithful in small beginnings. Continue planting, nurturing, and trusting.
The harvest will come—at the proper time.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for placing hope and purpose within my heart. When my emotions feel unstable and doubts arise, help me to trust You more deeply. Strengthen me when I feel weary, and remind me that You are working even when I cannot see results. Teach me to walk by faith, not by feelings. I place my plans, my efforts, and my future in Your hands. Lead me forward with peace and courage.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
